Ten things to take away
01
Boards approve outcomes, not software. Lead the business case with the outcome you'll measure.
02
Know where your team's time goes before you pick where AI starts.
03
Don't just deploy AI. Build an organisation that gets better because of it.
Time audit worksheet
Map a week of operator time, then circle the work AI could take off your team first.
12-question go/no-go scorecard
Score any AI initiative against governance, outcomes and readiness before it reaches your board.
Guidelines for the Responsible Use of Generative AI in Aged Care
A free resource developed by the AI Adoption in Aged Care Workgroup and MCCSA.
A guidelines template (Word, updated June 2026) that providers can adapt into their own internal guidelines for using generative AI in tasks like admin, client communication and report writing. It sets out staff responsibilities when choosing and using AI tools, and is meant to be used alongside an internal AI policy.
An implementation guide (PDF) that walks through four stages: tailoring the guidelines to your services, workshopping them with staff, formalising them into policy, and ongoing monitoring and review.
Ageing reframed
Ageing Reframed is a national MCCSA initiative on innovation in ageing and aged care, with a focus on designing for the full range of older Australians. It includes a free weekly newsletter, online panels with universities and sector organisations, and interviews, field notes and case studies.

From the panel
The P&L will benefit when your organisation can grow with increased demand without adding new admin staff to take on more manual work.
We deliberately haven’t built a big three-year AI roadmap. The technology is moving too fast for that. Instead, we’re starting with practical use cases, proving the value and learning as we go.
The goal isn’t an AI that learns autonomously. It’s an organisation that learns continuously.
